Ah dorm style hostel life, I'm sure most of you at some point in your life have had to share a room with several people at a time, whether it be for college or your own journeys. It's one of those things, it can't be avoided, it can be a super awesome experience, meet new people or it can be terrible, with roomies whose lives you fear for as they emit unnatural snoring sounds at night. Or, the unavoidable 60 year old European men who have a different sense of decency than us 19 year American girls. Yep, thats right, it's OK old man, no worries, I am completely used to seeing shriveled old bodies with nothing but boxers(or less sometimes) walking around in the room at all hours of the day. Just let it hang loose, nothing but birthday suits. Feel free to do your laundry in the bathroom too and leave your skivvies hanging from every available surface too, no problem here. I enjoy having to move your underwear so I can use the toilet. Yep, the unavoidable traveling lifestyle, but it's all fun and definitely part of the adventure in itself.
When you are an expat and trying to adjust to an entirely new lifestyle you definitely have your up and down days, emotional roller coaster is a perfect word for expat life. So, when you are having your down days the key is to always go out and adventure, do something nice for yourself. On a recent downer day I had, I decided to turn my tear filled morning into something a tad more enjoyable, so I picked up a delicious lunch from this really awesome restaurant, that is previously mentioned in an older post, 42 Raw. I had a much needed dose of vegetables in the form of an absolutely scrumptious mango/avocado/pumpkin seed/squash sauce salad, oh yeah it was delicious. Along with a thrifty 7 Eleven hot chocolate and the amazing views of the Botanical Gardens there was no way I couldn't smile a little bit inside.
Today was awesome. Did I seriously just say today and awesome in the same sentence? Yeah, I guess I did. Today was so awesome because my sister and I walked to the Zoo. Mind you in Denmark when they say Zoo, they actually mean a megalithic version of anything you previously think of Zoo and add in a dash of Noah's Ark and you get the Denmark version of Zoo. This place was absolutely massive, seriously, it spanned maybe 10 football fields and housed critters from giraffes and elephants to flamingos. It was awesome, it was the massively overwhelming dose of animal love we had both been missing and craving so desperately. Our favorites were of course the wolves, the little leopard cubs that kept playing with each other(which annoyed their Mom to no end) and the Red Pandas, and well every other critter too in truth. Also the Zoo happened to be right next to the biggest slab of greenery we had seen in a long while.
Well, thanks for sharing in our adventures with us, we hope you enjoyed them!
